Eye Candy

So last Saturday as we were driving towards the Sunway Hotel lobby, my cousin suddenly noticed a police car following behind us and the siren was turned-on and of course the natural thing to do is to move aside which was what we did but little did we expect that we'd be stuck at that spot for almost 10 mins.

Here's why. After the police car passed us, a fleet of bout at least 50 cars followed behind. Oh and mind you, they were no ordinary cars. Hummer,Ferrari, Lamborghini, Skyline, Fairlady, Merc, BMW and the list goes on. Some of which I don't even know the names. However, the most jaw dropping for us were the Hummers. I have seen Hummers around in KL but not this type. Hummer limousines. Yup. Imagine that.
The convoy caused a traffic congestion. We took the chance to escape after the 20th car or so to look for parking and when we were done, walked back up to the lobby, yup....the cars were still coming in. They were all to park at the hotel lobby & front yard thus, the congestion

Was quite paiseh to take pictures actually but still managed to quickly snap a couple for keepsake =)

L-R: Ferrari, Hummers & some classic-looking car (also the convoy leader)

=O

Haha. Jakun :p

Quite a sight really and as Ivan said, it was definitely a treat =D

freaky Thursday

okay this i have to blog.

ever since i started work here, i have never taken that pedestrian bridge to cross the two busy roads simply because i was lazy :p BUT today of all days i thought "why not? a little exercise wouldn't kill"
so i took the bridge this morning. as i reached the top i saw a foreigner guy either a cambodian or burmese i'm not too sure. they all look the same to me. anyhoo....the minute i saw him i was a little scared cos this bridge is rather quiet actually. he could do anything to me and no one would know. as i was nearing him, he just suddenly hopped on to the railing. these were the first two thoughts i had when i saw that:

1) i dont want to witness a suicide
2) why in the world would someone want to sit on the railing & watch cars pass at this time of the day?

then in a blink of an eye, before i could even open my mouth, he took off. down he went. down to the busy road where cars & bikes and what not are usually all speeding. the immediate thing i did was to close my ears. i have no idea why i do that every time i'm shocked or scared. i didn't even dare to look down after he jumped. i continued walking and kept thinking "oh my goodness i just witnessed a suicide" then as i walked down the bridge i looked over to my left to see what had happened to him & it turned out he wasnt dead! thank goodness. he was just lying there right in the middle of the road, awake & no bleeding whatsoever. fractured or not i dont know.

so i just witnessed a FAILED suicide. it was freaky nonetheless. i was a little shaky for a while.

as usual a crowd gathered after he was carried aside by two motorists. then two traffic police stopped over as well. i told them that guy's bag was in fact still up at the bridge. i left afterwards and i dont know what happened to that fella. my colleague came in not long after me said she saw the commotion too and that the guy was still lying on the ground. i guess waiting everyone's for the ambulance.

after that freaky incident, i came into the office only to find out from fb that steve jobs just passed away. pretty sure he'll be remembered for a very very long time if not forever.

not what i had expected out of an ordinary thursday morning. what a depressing day.

on a lighter note

Just a lil something to cheer up a mundane day. Hehe. It was shared by someone on FB.

A mother passing by her daughter's bedroom and she saw an envelope on the bed.

It was addressed, "Mom." With the worst premonition, she opened the envelope and read the letter with trembling hands.

Dear Mom,
It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new boyfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with Dad and you. I've been finding real passion with bob and he is so nice-even with all his piercings, tattoos and beard. But it's not only the passion Mom, I'm pregnant and bob said that we will be very happy. He already owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. He wants to have many more children with me and that's now one of my dreams too. Bob taught me that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone and we'll be growing it for us and trading it with his friends for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want. In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so bob can get better; he sure deserves it! Don't worry Mom, I'm 15 years old now and I know how to take care of myself. Someday I'm sure we'll be back to visit so you can get to know your grand children.

Your daughter, Jessy... PS: Mom, none of the above is true. I'm over at the neighbor's house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than my report card that's in my desk drawer. I love you!
Call me when it is safe for me to come home!

we have come long way

coming tomorrow CBC will be celebrating her silver jubilee marking the years of His faithfulness & unfailing blessing.

i am very blessed indeed to have been brought up in this church. 16 years and counting! =) it's not merely a church to me, it has become my family, a part of who i am. through the years i have been here i've seen many people come and gone but i thank God for those here today who have served faithfully in this church :) my prayer for this special day is that as we look forward to many many more years to come, we'll continue to stay united and rooted in Christ and that He'll be the reason why we do everything we do. let us continue to run this race together in light of His glory!

To God Be The Glory!!

little ramblings

so it seems like forever since i last updated here when it has only been a month plus. well, there wasn't much that happened but will just throw in an update or two anyway :)

1) i'll start with the prominent ones i guess. taking advantage of the long raya break end of august, a bunch of bout 30 of us from church decided to go on a roadtrip to the east coast while visiting a couple of orang asli villages along the way to donate some stuff to them and to get a better insight on the OA ministry there. it was a five-day trip with most of the time spent on the road. we tracked the distance traveled and came up to a thousand km at the end of the trip =O
it was the first time for the majority of us who have not visited east coast first.

as for me, not only did i see east coast for the first time but it also allowed me to experience my first proper camping since my actual first failed when i chicken-ed out from my scouts camping activity in primary school :p lol. at the end of this trip, let me just say i'm not made for the outdoors. period.

nevertheless, i enjoyed the trip a lot! =)

* for a more comprehensive description of our time spent at the OA villages, check out phoebe's posts.

2) on the same day i arrived kl from the east coast trip, i left for singapore with my mum at night. hehe. i was only back home for a couple of hours, just enough for a shower and to stuff in last minute things into my luggage before i was out of the house again. we took a midnight train just to experience it. ktm wasn't so bad really. in fact, i had a pretty good sleep all the way. well, maybe because i was really exhausted as well. anyway, arrived woodlands at 6.30am as scheduled. headed to mcd for breakfast then off to mum's cousin's house where we stayed for the next 3 days.

it's quite funny actually cos by the end of the first day i told my mum i wanted to go back and regretted buying our bus ticket so early cos now we're stuck for another 3 more days. haha. if you're not planning to visit sentosa then there's really nothing much to do in singapore. every thing you can get there you can also get in here so there's really not much to shop there anyways.

we spent most our of time walking in malls after mall. i dont understand why do they have so many anyway. lol. the highlight for me was probably visiting the peranakan museum. i enjoyed it a lot more than my mum though u would think she'd enjoy it more than me since it's bout her roots. haha. met up with my friend on the second last day for lunch. she took us to the merlion before adjourning for lunch at orchard. after my friend left, we headed off to sentosa, just to have a look. arrived there and the first place we went was....the casino! :p what did we do in there? drank chinese tea! LOL. and i secretly snapped some photos too. hehe

all in all, it was a good getaway! Especially for my mum :)

3) bidding farewell to six of our youths who all left for studies =( it's sad really. we actually lost a bunch of young adults who have served faithfully in church & have been of great help in many ministries. among those left were three awesome sunday school teachers, three gifted vocalists, two talented musicians, a great multimedia-ist & a PA expert. we definitely miss their presence but will continue to pray for them as they settle in their respective places =)

4) finally got a pair of glasses for my minimal shortsightedness & astigmatism. feels weird seeing things through the squares :p but does a great deal when i face the computer 8 hours a day everyday.

hmm...that's pretty much about it that i can remember i guess. till then, have a blessed weekend ahead!! =) toodles!

just taggin' along

mum and aunts decided to take drive down to their hometown last Saturday and i decided to tag along. hehe. our main purpose was to attend a relative's memorial service but did some sidetrack activities anyway :p

1) went to eat a fishball noodle that my mum has been craving for a very long time. alas, she was disappointed. she said she'll ask for it ever again. lol.

2) did some walking along jonker street. wanted to try the supposedly popular cendol but once again was turned off by the queue. oh well....

we did quite a bit of walking that day and it was quite fun. we got to see places that we'd never pass if we were to drive. mum and aunts got to go back to those streets where they used to go as kids. it was nice =)

By Your Side

Why are you striving these days
Why are you trying to earn grace
Why are you crying
Let me lift up your face
Just don't turn away

Why are you looking for love
Why are you still searching as if I'm not enough
To where will you go child
Tell me where will you run
To where will you run

And I'll be by your side
Wherever you fall
In the dead of night
Whenever you call
And please don't fight
These hands that are holding you
My hands are holding you

Look at these hands and my side
They swallowed the grave on that night
When I drank the world's sin
So I could carry you in
And give you life
I want to give you life

Cause I, I love you
I want you to know
That I, I love you
I'll never let you go

mixed-feeling

so adrienne and i were all set and prepared for this day. we have been talking bout this since last year and started preparing since beginning this year. finally they day arrived for us to submit our visa applications. i got up at 6am just so i could i meet tim & ad at ampang park on time to reach the high commission at 8.30am. 15mins into the bus i suddenly realised i left my whole file (forms, docs, photos) at home! -_- great. of all times. anyway, had to get down and wait for my mum to send it. ugh. thank God i was only bout 5+ mins late.

we arrived the high commission and noticed a bunch of bout 15 odd ppl waiting outside. we panicked a lil as we didn't expect a queue or whatsoever. nvm, tim quickly dropped us off while he went to look for parking. we got down and went to stand among the ppl but were curious why didn't anyone go in. not too long came a lady who seemed a little agitated, she asked if we got the numbers. ad and i looked at each other "numbers? what numbers?" the lady then said that apparently the 100 spots for this visa has already been given out. given out?!! this is impossible we thought, the office just opened at 8.30am and it definitely didn't look like there were 100 ppl then. so we decided to go in to clarify and was told that apparently ppl started queuing since 4.30am! it's insane! we suspect that these ppl were the ones who tried last year and knew the trick of queuing up in the wee hours.

anyway, there was nothing we could do. most of us were dumbfounded. we even heard two girls had just quit their jobs for this and in that sense, we were thankful we didn't but it was definitely disappointing and saddening after all the trouble we had gone through in preparing for this application. if they had at least accepted our application though didn't approve, we'd at least have some hope :(

oh well, we couldn't do anything so we left and headed for Levain for breakfast. then met up with some of the boys for lunch at Village Park followed by dessert at Snowflake. they headed home while tim, ad and i went for our spa appointment at kota damansara. let's just say being a first-timer, the spa session was preeetttty 'interesting' and not to mention maximum awkwardness :p
ended the day with pizzas for dinner at home fellowship =)

see what i meant by 'mixed-feeling'. first half of the day just went all the way down hill while the second half was meant to be enjoyable, we were just going through the motion, numb :p in fact i wanted to document that day with pictures but lost all motivation and only took a few at levain. haha

having said all that, i believe deep down that this is not the end though i feel aimless now :p i know He has some awesome plans installed for us and i'll hold on to that hope! =)

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
